Located within the borders of Kars, on the Turkish-Armenian border, the Ancient City of Ani was built in the 10th century as the capital of the Bagratid Armenian Kingdom. Also known as the "City of 1001 Churches", Ani was one of the largest and most developed trading cities of the Middle Ages. The history of the city of Ani dates back to the Early Iron Age (between 1200-1000 BC). The city includes structures such as the Ani Cathedral, Surp Krikor Church, Surp Prkich (Savior) Church, the Ani Mosque and the Caravanserai, which bear traces of Great Seljuk architecture. Surrounded by fascinating valleys, Ani draws attention with its strong walls built on steep cliffs and stonework. Conquered by the Seljuks in 1064, Ani came under the rule of different civilizations such as the Mongols and Ottomans over time. Today, Ani, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is a fascinating open-air museum that houses unique examples of both Armenian and Islamic architecture. This ancient city, which has an impressive atmosphere especially at sunrise and sunset, is an unforgettable discovery point for history and nature lovers.

The Caucasus Front War History Museum, one of the historical structures of Kars, was converted into a museum by restoring the Kars Orthodox Church (formerly Alexander Nevski Church) built by the Russians in the 19th century. The museum displays old Ottoman and Russian military uniforms, cannons, rifles, maps and information on war strategies. The museum is open every day of the week except Mondays between 08:00 and 16:30.

Kars Castle was built by the Saltuks in the 12th century and is one of the most important symbols of the city. Located on a hill overlooking the city, the castle has changed hands many times by the Ottomans, Seljuks and Russians. When you climb the castle, you can see the historical streets of Old Kars, stone bridges and the Arpaçay Valley in panoramic view. Inside Kars Castle, there is the Celal Baba Tomb from the 12th century, Military Barracks, Fields, Armory and a Mosque. Kars Castle, which has been declared a protected area, has an impressive appearance when viewed from the city. The historical city center of Kars, located at the foot of the castle, attracts attention with its stone buildings, mosques, churches and old Ottoman mansions from the Russian period. Fethiye Mosque (former Alexander Nevski Church), Stone Bridge, Beylerbeyi Palace and Baltic style buildings reflecting old Russian architecture shed light on Kars's past.

Located within the borders of Kars and Ardahan, Lake Çıldır is one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eastern Anatolia and offers a unique view by freezing completely in the winter months. Lake Çıldır is a natural dam lake formed by a lava flow and a debris spit. The only outlet of the lake, which is fed by many streams and springs, is the Telek Stream, a branch of Arpaçay on the Armenian border in the northwest. The largest is the island next to the Akçakale ruins. Especially between November and March, the surface of the lake is covered with ice and it becomes possible to ride on it with horse-drawn sleighs. The lake, which attracts attention with its natural beauty at all times of the year, offers boat tours and fishing in the summer months, and activities such as ice walking and Eskimo-style fishing in the winter months. Tasting the famous "yellow carp" fish in the restaurants around the lake is a special experience for visitors who come here.

Kars Cheese Museum, the first and only cheese museum in Turkey, is a special museum that aims to introduce the city's deep-rooted cheese production tradition and rich cheese varieties. Kars is especially famous for its local cheeses such as Gravyer, Kashar, Chechil and Malakan Cheese, and this museum exhibits the journey of cheese from production to table. The museum provides information about old cheese-making tools, production techniques, the history of cheese and the effects of the Malakan community living in Kars on dairy products. The museum also includes a section where recipes for different flavors made with cheese are given, a section where endemic plants grown in the Kars plateaus are displayed, a barn section where animal breeds raised with these plants are exhibited, a workshop, a cheese sales section and a cafeteria. Visitors can also find the opportunity to taste and purchase different types of cheese.

Sarıkamış Ski Resort, located in Sarıkamış district of Kars, is one of the highest quality ski resorts in Turkey and is famous for its crystal snow, which is unique to the Alps. Cıbıltepe Ski Resort, with an altitude of 2,634 meters, offers slopes of different difficulty levels for both amateur and professional skiers. The most important feature that distinguishes Sarıkamış from other slopes is the type of snow falling in the region and its natural beauty. Powder crystal snow, which is quite suitable for skiing and is only found in the Alps in the world, is only found in Sarıkamış in our country. An ideal destination for ski and snowboard enthusiasts, Sarıkamış offers the opportunity to do sports in a calm and peaceful environment, intertwined with nature. While the ski season lasts between December and April, the slopes surrounded by pine forests and the quality of the snow make the region unique. In addition, alternative winter sports such as snowmobile tours, sledding activities and nature walks can be done. Since Sarıkamış's crystal snow does not stick together in cold weather, it makes skiing easier and provides a soft surface while skiing.

Kars Archaeology Museum is an important cultural center that exhibits the rich historical heritage of the region from the Urartian, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods. The museum houses many important works such as archaeological artifacts, stone reliefs, statues, sarcophagi, ornaments and coins unearthed in excavations in Kars and its surroundings. Prominent works include Urartian cuneiform tablets, bronze war tools, medieval tombstones and architectural remains from the ancient city of Ani. In addition, the ethnography section of the museum exhibits traditional clothing, carpets and daily life items belonging to the folk culture of Kars and its surroundings. The museum is open every day of the week except Mondays between 08:00 and 17:00.
