The ancient city of Zeugma, located in the Nizip district of Gaziantep, is one of the most important trade and cultural centers of the Roman period. It has been one of the important points used by trade caravans and armies wishing to cross the Euphrates River since the Assyrian Trade Colonies Age. This city, established on the banks of the Euphrates River, is famous for its rich villas and impressive mosaics. Today, the mosaics unearthed from the ancient city are exhibited in the Zeugma Mosaic Museum, the second largest mosaic museum in the world. The "Gypsy Girl" mosaic in particular has become the symbol of Zeugma. Zeugma is a must-see ancient city for history and art enthusiasts.
