Complex of Sultan Bayezid II Health Museum

The Bayezid II Complex in Edirne was built in 1488 by Sultan Bayezid II and is one of the most important social and health structures of the Ottoman Empire. The complex consists of sections such as a mosque, a madrasah, a soup kitchen and a healing house. The healing house, in particular, draws attention as a center where patients were treated with the advanced medical methods of the period. This area, which currently serves as the Health Museum, offers an impressive exhibition explaining Ottoman medicine and psychological treatment methods. The museum has recreated environments where methods such as treatment with music and the sound of water were applied. The Bayezid II Complex is a unique structure that sheds light on the Ottoman health system. The museum won the Council of Europe European Museum Award in 2004 and the European Cultural Heritage - Excellence Club Best Presentation Award in 2007. You can visit the museum every day of the week between 09:00 and 18:00
