The main purpose of the Aphrodisias Museum is not only to present examples of the rich remains unearthed from the archaeological site to visitors, but also to emphasize the perfection and diversity of sculptures produced in workshops in Aphrodisias during the Roman and early Byzantine periods. Located in the city center of Aydın, the Archaeology Museum displays the rich historical and cultural heritage of the region. The museum contains sculptures, sarcophagi, coins and ceramic works unearthed from ancient cities. The pieces from ancient cities such as Tralleis, Magnesia and Aphrodisias are particularly striking. You can visit the museum every day of the week between 08:30 and 17:30 to witness the history of Aydın and its surroundings up close.
One of the symbols of Kuşadası, Güvercinada Castle impresses its visitors with its historical texture and fascinating view. Güvercinada Castle, which covers the entire Güvercinada, is located on a natural rock. Its history dates back to the Genoese who came to Kuşadası in the late 13th or early 14th century, and was renovated during the Ottoman Empire. Since the island was used as an outpost against pirates during the Ottoman period, it is also known as the Pirate Castle. Güvercinada is located in the middle of the sea and is connected to the mainland by a walking path. Magnesia, located in the Germencik district of Aydın, was a city famous for its trade and sports activities in ancient times. Until it united with Alexander the Great with its own consent (334 BC), it was under the rule of the Persians, and later under the rule of the Hellenistic kingdoms founded by his commanders, first the Seleucid Kingdom (240 BC) and then the Pergamon Kingdom (189 BC). These years were the most glorious periods of the city. Among the most impressive structures of the city are the Agora, the Temple of Zeus and the ancient theater. Its large stadium, built especially for sports competitions, was one of the important social centers of the ancient period.
