Patara, the capital of Lycia and one of its important port cities, is located in the Kaş district of Antalya. The ancient city still impresses its visitors with its magnificent theater, columned street, parliament building and harbor ruins. Patara is also home to one of the longest beaches in Turkey and is the nesting ground of the loggerhead turtles. Offering history, nature and the sea together, this unique place reveals the magnificence of the Lycian civilization. In the light of archaeological data obtained from today's excavations, it has been discovered that the earliest settlement in Patara dates back to 5500 BC.
