Amasya Fortress, located on the summit of Harşena Mountain, has been the defense point of many civilizations throughout history with its dominant position over the city and has been subject to many attacks. The castle was seriously damaged, especially during the wars between Rome and Pontus. Carrying the history of many periods from the Pontus Kingdom to the Ottoman Empire, the Castle stands out with its impressive walls, water wells and secret passages. After the conquest of Amasya by the Seljuk State, it was largely restored in 1075 and continued to be used until the 18th century, when it lost its military importance. Today, the castle continues to fascinate its visitors with its magnificent view of Amasya.
